Fall 2011 Updates!

Happy October, Dance Families!

I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks that September went by too fast. Your dancers have been doing an amazing job of learning dance class etiquette, limiting talking and distractions, and are already showing improvements in dance technique. It's awesome!:)

Please remember:
  • Tuition is due on the 1st. $10 late fee will be added after the 15th.
  • Dancers must have hair up in a ponytail or bun, especially if they have long hair. I have been stopping class to put hair up, this isn't fair to the others in the class.
  • Dancers need to wear proper attire and shoes to class. Please have your child try on his/her shoes. Some are already complaining that their shoes are too tight!
  • Please put names on your child's shoes, bags, etc. Any items left at the studio will be put in a lost and found box.

Now for a few calendar updates:
Oct. 19 & 20: I have just found out that I need to be out of town on Wednesday (19) and Thursday (20) to present at a Statewide conference for my day job. I am working on finding a dependable backup instructor.

In the event that I cannot find a replacement, I might have to cancel the classes on those evenings. I will contact the families of the Wed. and Thursday classes if we do decide to cancel those dates. I will give you options to make up the cancelled classes. If you know of anyone that would be a great fit as a back up dance teacher, please encourage them to contact me! :) Thanks!

Oct. 24- Oct. 27: Costume Week!
I love holidays and Halloween was always one of my favorites. While it is not required, dancers are encouraged to wear a costume to class during the week. It makes for great photos and a fun memory. Dancers may go barefoot if necessary, no street shoes, boots, or "costume" feet- as those may be too slick or damage the studio floor.

Oct. 30: Talent On Parade Dance Directive (Master Classes)
While this is not a Studio Event, Miss Haley and Miss Michelle plan to attend. We wanted to share the information with anyone that might be interested. This Master Class is an excellent opportunity for dancers interested in expanding their dance background. Dancers will be exposed to various dance styles, national instructors, while being challenged and inspired in many areas of dance! Prices and length of the workshop varies with age and ability. Please contact the studio for registration information. Fees and registration will be due Oct. 11.

Nov. 14- Nov. 17: Observer & Food Bank Week!
The studio lobby will be open to Parents and Grandparents during observer week. It's a special time for you to see what your dancer(s) do during a normal dance class. We ask that if you can, please bring a food item to be donated to the Wellington Food Bank. Please remember: With the open layout of the studio, any talking or movement in the lobby is extremely distracting to the dancers. Young siblings may attend, but must remain quiet and off the dance floor.

Looking Ahead:
Nov. 23- Nov. 24: Thanksgiving Break - No Classes
Dec. 12- Dec. 15: Christmas Week & Observer & Food Bank Week!
Dec. 16- Jan. 1: Christmas Break
Jan. 2: Classes Resume!

If you have any questions or need anything- please contact Michelle via phone, email, or any other way! I appreciate all of you and thank you for allowing your dancers to dance with our studio. :)

Save the Date: Summer Updates!!

We have some exciting things planned for the summer!

RELAY FOR LIFE:
The studio will be performing at Relay For Life again this year. This is not required but is a great cause, and it is always fun for our dancers. The event is Friday, June 10 at 6:00pm. (Performance time to be Announced.) We will perform our recital dances on the football field, very laid back performance. Please "RSVP" by June 1. We will have a few "refresher" practices so your dancers can review the dance(s). Once we get our list of dancers, we will decide what to wear... costumes/recital tshirts?? We have a signup sheet at the studio.

WHEAT FESTIVAL PARADE:
We will be in the Wheat Festival Parade, July 8(?). We will have a truck for the little ones to ride in, and the older girls can walk and hand out candy and dance flyers. Please sign up at the studio if you are interested. I will send more information closer to the event. This is not required but it is very fun, and creates great memories!

SUMMER DANCE SAMPLER!
Summer Dance Sampler is a 4-week summer session (July 11- Aug. 3) that will cover all styles of dance! Class meets once per week. You dancer will get to try jazz, hip hop, pom, ballet, tap, without the long term commitment or the expense of buying special shoes! :) I'm attaching a flyer with more information and the schedule. Parent Helpers Needed - Refreshments and Backstage Help

Parent Helpers Needed - Refreshments and Backstage Help

To sign up for the backstage help and/or refreshments,
please come into the studio and sign up for the
items of your choice. Thank you!

Dear Parents,

At our Spring Recital, we want to make the recital experience for our dancers of all ages as positive, safe, and enjoyable as possible.

In order to do this, we need parent helpers to volunteer backstage in assisting with bathroom visits, keeping the class together, and getting the dancers ready when it is their turn to perform.  You will also be with the class to escort them to and from the stage.

It is a delight and lots of fun to be backstage with the children.  There is another kind of show behind the scenes!

You will be with the children from your child's class for the entire time of the show and be in the wings while they perform so you see them up close and personal!

It is fun and rewarding to volunteer your time and efforts to the backstage team.  Without your help the show would not go on!

After the performance, we like to celebrate with refreshments. We ask that each family signs up to bring something for this fun part of the night.

March Updates

My goodness how time has flown by! Here are a few things on my mind... (I'm sure I will think of something else after I send this. :) I will send another update later in the month for April.)

• • St. Patty's Parent Watch Week! • •

We will be opening the studio lobby to visitors the week of March 14-19. For those that can give, we'd like to ask that you bring a food item to be donated to the Wellington Food Bank, so our students can have an active role in giving to those in need.

During this week we will hold our normal classes and you will get to have a sneak peek at the recital numbers!
In celebration of St. Patty's Day- Dancers are encouraged to wear their GREEN!

• • Recital Updates! • •

Recital: April 30
The recital will be held on Saturday, April 30 at the Old Junior High Auditorium. We will have a dress rehearsal at 10:00 am that morning. The performance will begin at 6:00 pm. After the short and sweet show, we will enjoy refreshments.

Costumes
Costumes will be going home with dancers in the upcoming week. Please try the costumes on your dancers. Most fit well, others will need some minor alterations or hems. You will get the costume and  a pair of tights (for most costumes.)We have a couple of classes that costumes are still on order... we will get these to you as soon as we can!

Pom Poms
If your student is in a pom class, you have the option to purchase their poms to keep! I will put the cost information for the poms in your tuition envelope.

Recital T-Shirts!
I'm super excited for this... your recital/costume fee includes a recital t-shirt and recital cd for each dancer! The shirts have a design on the front, and has all of our dancer names on the back. If you would like to order any additional T-shirts, you must let me know by March 10. Adult Shirts are $15, Youth are $12. (I will send an email later this week with NAMES that will appear on the shirt so you can make sure I spell them correctly!!!)

Recital Photos
Recital photos are a great keepsake for our dancers. I am still considering all options for quality and price. I will post a recital photo date and time in the near future! Stay tuned...
Sign Up Sheets
Putting on a recital takes a lot of work. I will once again be asking that each dance family signs up to help with different things, from bringing refreshments, to helping backstage. I will send more information about each "duty" and will post a sign up sheet at the beginning of April.

Thanks for everything you do! :) As always call, email, or facebook me if you have any questions, concerns, or issues! :)

Hi Dance Families!

It's been a snowy 'ucky' start to February, so I want to add a little fun to the next week! So we are declaring it "Valentine's Week" at the Studio - Feb. 12 - Feb. 17.

Your dancers can wear any outfit that shows that they LOVE DANCE! Crazy or fun! Maybe a Red Leo with Pink Tights? Tank top with hearts on it? Fluffy Pink and Purple Tutu? Tight or socks with hearts on them? Not required, but it will be fun!
We will not be trading valentine cards, but just a fun "theme" for the week.
**Due to the weather- I'm extending the deadline for Feb. Tuition payments! Any payments are due on Wed., Feb. 16, by 8:30pm – to avoid $10 Late Fee. We will try to set up some make up class dates for all these missed snow days! :( **
Thank you for everything that you do! If you ever have questions or concerns, don't hesitate to email or call!
